As Physical Performance Coach you will work with the first team squad to assist in delivering our physical performance objectives. The successful candidate will play a vital role in optimising both player availability and athletic performance to positively impact Barnsley FC’s First Team squad. We are seeking an experienced practitioner with strong delivery skills who has previous experience working in elite sport, and understands the level of commitment, proficiency and consistency required in an elite environment. Work alongside the head of performance to help ensure consistency and alignment in the delivery of the 1st team physical performance programme. Practical delivery of on and off the pitch physical training required to develop the speed, agility, strength, power and metabolic fitness to compete in professional football. Implementation of the clubs monitoring, fitness testing, rehabilitation, and recovery strategies, alongside the collection, management, and analysis of performance data. Engaging with the medical and wider interdisciplinary team to deliver on and off pitch rehabilitation for injured players. Engaging in team discussions/meetings on developing future approaches to improve the physical development and availability of players. In conjunction with other members of the performance and medical department, liaise daily with the coaching staff about optimal workload for all 1 st team players. Download, monitor & evaluate physical performance using tracking technology for both training and games, and provide feedback to the performance, medical coaching staff. About The Candidate The ideal candidate will possess: Undergraduate degree in Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science, Physical Education, or related subject. A good understanding of techniques for developing players movement competency, speed agility, strength and power and metabolic fitness for intermittent sprint agility sports. Knowledge of valid and reliable methods for monitoring individual’s physical and physiological fitness, interpreting results and implementing appropriate intervention strategies. The ability to work to deadlines using problem solving skills, initiative and sensitivity. Ability to work as part of interdisciplinary team and develop productive relationships. A positive attitude to change in a fast-moving environment. Proactive attitude and drive to succeed in a career supporting elite athletes. Understanding and willingness to follow Health & Safety principles and practices. Flexibility in days/hours of work - able to work matchdays and other events as required.
