The Role:
The Operational Resilience and Business Continuity Manager will support the Operational Resilience Practice Lead in the development and implementation of Northern Trust’s Operational Resilience Framework and associated policies. This will improve the Firm’s resilience and enable the Firm to plan for and respond to significant business disruption and implement actions to mitigate foreseeable adverse impact. Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to ensure adherence to resiliency office methodology.
The main responsibilities:
1. Support and lead on elements of the Operational Resilience Framework and supporting methodology.
2. Proactive management of team members within the Resiliency Office Assurance team.
3. Oversees the resiliency program covering the Operational Resilience Business Services Lifecycle and Business Continuity Plan Assurance Framework.
4. Supports the implementation and embeddedness of the Operational Resilience framework across Asset Servicing legal entities.
5. Engage with senior leaders and relevant SMEs across Asset Servicing to map out important business services, set impact tolerances and support reporting to business unit / legal entity committees as required.
6. Analyze Asset Servicing’s business continuity requirements and support the development of robust recovery strategies in relation to the prioritization of service continuity.
7. Monitor and review the impact of new products and organizational change on Asset Servicing resiliency strategy.
8. Identify and solve complex operational problems leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the department.
9. Remain current on regulatory requirements, internal policies, and controls related to operational resilience, business continuity, and other resiliency-related programs.
Skills/Experience:
1. Several years of experience in operational resiliency.
2. People management experience - sets team priorities and allocates resources to align with business objectives.
3. Working knowledge of the appropriate standards and regulations e.g., ISO22301 and FCA/PRA/BoE and other country regulator’s publications in relation to Operational Resilience.
4. Management skills; proven stakeholder engagement experience, engaging and inclusive management style, with experience of having managed Business Continuity / Incident Management / operational processes / risk management initiatives.
5. Analytical skills – able to analyze and interpret key facts across data sources, providing stakeholders with clear and concise recommendations and reports.
6. Ability to decide, under pressure, the best course of action required to solve a range of problems from complex queries to technical issues.
7. Communication and Interpersonal Skills – communicate clearly and concisely, tailoring content and style, with the ability to make a positive impression on others.
8. Coaching, training, and mentoring experience across diverse teams, capable of effectively managing conflict and change, resolving problems expeditiously.
