About the role
Prison officers are key in supporting the rehabilitation of the women in custody. You'll help create positive change while maintaining the safety and security of the facility. Many women in custody have experienced significant trauma prior to coming into custody. As prison officers, it is our job to provide a safe environment for these women and guide them toward a more positive pathway in future. We are role models to the women in custody at DPFC. We create positive working relationships with the women in our care and lead them in developing:
1. Self-respect and respect for others
2. Appropriate and pro-social behaviours
3. Ownership of their actions
4. Integrity and honesty
As a prison officer at DPFC, you will learn about trauma-informed practice and apply this in your work.
