As Finance Manager, this role will sit within the Central Finance Function at RSBG UK and will lead and direct the preparation of monthly management accounts and variance analysis that supports the Group Companies.

RSBG UK is the parent company of an engineering and property construction Group. RSBG UK has invested in companies that work on civil engineering, architecture, and project management for infrastructure and major building developments. These include Pell Frischmann, McBains, Desco, 4Way, Leslie Jones Architecture, The Yard Creative, and Genecon. The firms range in size from 9 to 585 people, with around 1,200 people total in the UK currently. We have a unique model, with each company having a high degree of control and autonomy over their business and services, collaborating as useful, and sharing some facilities and services.
RSBG UK has established a central support function including finance which provides back office and transactional support to the Group Companies.
The Role:
The Finance Manager will support the Head of Central Finance and will be pivotal in the development of the shared finance function, managing a team of 2 and providing guidance and mentoring.
We operate a hybrid working model, and this role will be split between our office location and remote working.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Supporting the Head of Central Finance in delivering monthly management accounts.
* Lead and manage a team ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and performance. Set clear performance goals and conduct regular reviews.
* Reviewing quarterly VAT returns including turnover reconciliations.
* Supporting payroll reconciliations for multiple companies within the group.
* Take a lead role in the preparation of year-end accounts for entities within the group and assist with the year-end audit, liaising with external auditors.
As Finance Manager, you will be ultimately responsible for, and will assist in the delivery of the following:
* Manage the delivery of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to strict deadlines, whilst taking ultimate responsibility for the accuracy of the P&L and Balance Sheet.
* Efficiently manage the delivery of interim and year-end audit deliverables ensuring adherence to the audit timetable.
* Manage intercompany billing processes to ensure accurate and timely billing to other group companies.
* Oversee and approve payment runs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of payments.
* Ensure VAT is appropriately and accurately recorded for all claims.
* Identify and assist in the implementation of opportunities to streamline and automate processes.
* Assist with audit queries as required.
* Other ad hoc tasks as required by the Head of Central Finance and wider finance function.
* Maintain an appropriate control environment ensuring team members understand their responsibility for compliance and risk management.
Further responsibilities as Finance Manager:
* Support Strategic Initiatives: Assist the Head of Finance in defining and implementing strategic initiatives related to financial management and planning. Ensure that financial processes align with the overall business objectives of RSBG UK.
* Evaluate and Manage Risks: Assess and manage financial risks across the organization. Identify and drive initiatives to enhance financial efficiency and reduce costs.
* Support New Brand Integrations: Assist in integrating new brands into the financial processes, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to best practices.
* Lead Process Improvements: Identify and drive automation and efficiency initiatives within financial operations. Lead and project manage these initiatives with support from the Finance team.
* Financial Reporting and Analysis: Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
* Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial planning.
* Team Development and Management: Support the development of the Finance team, ensuring they are high-performing and well-structured to meet business needs.
The Person:
* Qualified Accountant – ACA / ACCA / CIMA.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
* Experience of working with different accounting packages; knowledge of Unit 4 by Coda would be beneficial but not essential.
* Experience working in a shared service or central finance function with an understanding of good process and best practice.
* Strong Excel skills.
* Staff management experience.
* Excellent interpersonal skills – an ability to communicate with various stakeholders and team members across the Group.

* Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
* Good time management and prioritization skills.
