Essential
* Lead Auditor qualification for ISM
* HND / HNC in Naval Architecture, or equivalent
* Minimum 10 years experience in a similar role
* Experience in Computer Aided Design software and updating and managing technical drawings
* Experience in auditing and investigation
* Certificate in incident investigation
* Experience in commercial ship operations and management
* Theoretical and working knowledge of both International and Domestic Safety
* Management systems and related Marine Safety Regulations
* Good understanding of UK domestic shipping industry standards and regulations including UK flag and Class rules for domestic passenger ships
* Strong written/verbal communication skills and is a persuasive and influential communicator
* Demonstrate excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
* Keen analytical and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making/mature judgement
* Able to demonstrate sound understanding and application of the PMSC, ISPS Code, ISM, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and the requirements of these standards.
* Experienced in working with internal and external auditors, in particular the MCA andLloyds Register
* Experience of working with reporting and analysis software systems
* Full driving licence

JOB DESCRIPTION
Principal accountabilities
* Provide guidance on vessel design and stability matters and provide and update ships drawings.
* Support internally audits and provide naval architect support to investigations of incidents with the objective to establish causal influences and corrective action.
Naval Architecture Responsibilities
* Provision of drawings of vessels, ports and their respective interfaces on request.
* Provide and update vessel drawings on request.
* Provide guidance on the carriage of abnormal loads on ships, with particular reference to suitability of ships’ decks and ramps.
* Provision of guidance to the fleet on stability matters, including Onboard NAPA.
* Provide stability advice and assistance to the Emergency Response Support Team.
* Carrying out Inclining Experiments and Lightship Surveys in collaboration with the Fleet Management Department.
* Update of Onboard NAPA data.
* Producing drawings, reports and manuals for submission to Flag and Classification Societies.
* Be familiar with and keep up to date with all future and current regulations and legislation with regards to the design of domestic RoPax ships.
Marine Assurance Responsibilities
* Supporting safety and environmental assurance function of the Standards and Performance department across vessel operation and management activities providing guidance, leadership, advice, and direction, specifically on vessel design matters. Collaborate with the Governance, Risk and Assurance team and the Fleet Management Department, empowered to stop work where deemed necessary to ensure safety of delivery of vessel management.
* Support Performance Assurance audits on the Fleet Management Department and vessels in accordance with the requirements of the ISM and ISPS codes to ensure policies, processes and procedures are being used correctly, are appropriate and continuously improved. Where necessary stop work, or escalate to Head of / Director level, if needed due to quality concerns or where standards are not being met. Develop and manage audit plan of Fleet Management Department and vessels.
* Where needed, lead or support investigations, provide independent investigation capacity for issues highlighted by the Fleet Management Department, conduct more complex investigation and root cause analysis and produce reports recording and monitoring any actions raised as a result.
* Management of department processes should be in line with company expectations and ensuring consultation is completed with relevant process reviewers when adding,amending, deleting, and reviewing owned processes.
Stakeholder Liaison
* Assisting with business wide projects, ensuring that they are supported from a Naval Architecture point of view where necessary.
* Supporting management of customer and wider business complaints, lessons learnt and issues that have a safety impact on vessels. Completing relevant actions, supporting other action owners with relevant advice and monitoring of progress of actions to close out.
* Participation and chairing in specified meetings as directed by Performance Assurance Manager.
* Work collaboratively with the Fleet Management Department to ensure quality of service to ferry users, and maximising Marine and Technical Quality and fleet performance, resilience and reliability.
