North East Essex Community Services are currently looking for an experienced nurse to fill the role of matron/older adult ward lead for a period of 12 months, on a fixed term contract (FTC) or secondment basis. This is an exciting development opportunity for a 1-year FTC/ secondment into the Matron role, covering four older adult inpatient wards on the Colchester Site. The CDG is seeking applications from collaborative and compassionate leaders who are curious and proactive in their vision to improve outcomes for our patient population. Experience at band 7 level is required, ideally in a ward sister/manager role. The post sits within the Older People's & Community Hospitals CDG, so close collaboration and cross cover with our Community Hospital matron will be required by the successful applicant. If appointed internally this post will be offered as a secondment.
* The Matron is responsible and accountable for implementation of robust systems and processes that ensure there is a continuing improvement in the quality of the service provided to patients, safety to staff and visitors to the Trust premises, who may be affected by the work of the Trust.
* For the continuous improvement of clinical productivity, patient safety and experience for all patients and carers
* Accountable for the delivery and monitoring of robust infection control measures through relentless vigilance by ensuring delivery of all aspects of the Infection Control Strategy
* For management of the nursing and clinical service, ensuring the delivery of high quality, timely care
* For ensuring the implementation of national and Trust initiatives quality improvement initiatives and the Trusts quality priorities as outlined in the quality account and quality strategy
* Accountable for the provision of safe and effective workforce requirements to meet patient needs and to develop a future workforce in line with the National and Trusts workforce strategy
* The Matron is accountable for the delivery of nursing clinical services within both the allocated clinical service area and the Trust. This includes fiscal responsibility for the nursing budget.
* Participation in divisional staffing rota (bleep holder) and senior nurse rota
