About the Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer with a flair for line management to join our Water Catchment Management team in Scotland (Glasgow or Edinburgh). This is an exciting opportunity for someone with extensive experience in the development and design of flood risk management and river engineering solutions to be part of a growing and experienced team. You will join our Water Catchment Management team and will play an important role in supporting our diverse client base through leading delivery of outline, planning, tender and detailed design projects and in mentoring and developing more junior staff. Your role will be to lead the technical delivery of projects for clients including the Environment Agency, Local Flood Authorities and other public and private clients including Water and Sewerage Companies, Highways England, Network Rail and Major Airports. You will lead the delivery of Design and Engineering solutions of flood risk management and river engineering Projects, with deliverables that will include; • The design of: Linear flood defences including earthwork embankments and flood walls. • River improvement works including scour protection and conveyance channels. • Reinforced concrete and steelwork structures associated with river engineering works. • Flow control and debris / security screen structures. • Flood gates and demountable defences; Surface water drainage. • Natural Flood Management solutions. • Production of Technical specifications and input to contract documents • Contributing to an engaged and supportive team environment with active involvement in mentoring and supporting the development of staff. • Checking and reviewing calculations and technical deliverables. Here's what you'll need We are keen to hear from candidates who have; • An interest in or experience of development and mentoring of colleagues. • Are BEng / MEng Civil Engineering and Chartered with ICE or CIWEM (or very close to Chartership). • Experience in the development of outline and detailed design solutions for river engineering and flood risk management schemes. • Experience of Safety in Design and Designers responsibilities under CDM. • Experience o f coordinating and leading multi-disciplinary teams in the development of design solutions. • Interest in or experience of performing the role of Delegated Engineer or Supervising Civil Engineer to mentor staff through Chartership.
