Job summary
The Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Colchester Hospital is one of the largest centres of its kind in Europe. Delivering high volume and low complexity cases locally for the people we serve across our region.
You will a valuable member of the small admin team, assisting with the smooth running of the department. You will be responsible for covering all reception duties and ensuring administrative tasks are completed accurately and in a timely, efficient manner. This may include supporting with ward clerking as and when required.
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who will be able to work autonomously, be able to prioritise and to work well within a busy and demanding environment.
You will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public and various levels of staff, both face-to-face and over the phone. This role is the first point of contact into the Centre so we need someone who will ensure that the Trust's values are used at all times to ensure the expected high standards are maintained.
Please note, the working pattern is Monday to Wednesday, 6:30am - 5pm
The Dame Clare Marx Building houses our elective orthopaedic centre (ESEOC) and focuses on elective orthopaedic surgery and day cases. The centre has eight laminar flow theatres, three wards, recovery facilities, and support services including radiology and EBME.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide a reception service for patients coming into the Essex & Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre (ESEOC), working closely with clinical staff from several health service providers.
2. To operate a computerised appointment system to book in and re-schedule patient appointments.
3. To liaise with medical secretaries, clinical staff and medical records departments, to ensure the timely and efficient day-to-day operation of all clinics.
