We are creating a bank of part-time and seasonal staff who can help in the Green Care opportunities at Botton Village near Danby, North Yorkshire when we need to cover maternity leave, and to cover training, planned and unplanned absences in our staff teams, to ensure our Green care opportunities can run on a daily basis. The role is to provide assistance in one of our Therapeutic Green Care Opportunities, here in Botton, such as in our Creative Studio, Care Farm and Garden. In this role you would be prepared to learn the ropes in one or more of our small businesses: Creative Studio Nature-based Arts and Crafts Garden Growing and Horticulture Care Farm Animal Care and Husbandry Locations & Travel Botton Village (Danby, North Yorkshire) The role will be based at Botton Village, Danby, in the North Yorkshire Moors. To be considered for the role, you must be able to reliably travel to our site About Botton Village Botton Village is nestled in a huge valley on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors. If you love being surrounded by the most stunning and inspiring scenery, you’ll love it here We’re quite unique: there’s a village shop, café, supported homes, a walled garden, woodworking and creative studios, massive greenhouses, a 200-seater theatre and stunning scenery at every turn. The people we support have a wide range of activities they can participate in or learn. Many of the items we make are sold in our shops or online. Our craft workshops provide creative experiences in woodworking, textiles, pottery and art. We have our own dairy herd of 37 cows who produce over 130,000 litres of milk each year to make our award-winning cheeses. Our award-winning cheeses are sold all over the UK – We were awarded Gold at the 2017/18 World Cheese Awards. Our cheeses have appeared on Paul Hollywood’s “Pies and Puds” programme as well as “Remarkable Places to Eat” with Fred & Nadiya. Duties & Responsibilities As a Creative Studio Assistant you will: You will support the staff team in all aspects of the different ‘assistant’ roles you are assigned to train and work in. We are a small team and we need people who are able to follow instructions and willing to work hard as a team player. You will be expected to have a can-do attitude, be willing to learn but also share the skills and experiences you may already have. You will need to conduct yourself in a friendly, kind and professional manner at all times. Some of the roles have manual work at their core, so your physical fitness and capability will need to be assessed against the wise range of tasks you might be asked to carry out. You will need to be committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety – you will be involved in all aspects of heath and safety. You should be prepared to get your hands dirty (before washing them thoroughly). You will come with the ability to solve small problems and work on your own initiative once you understand what needs doing in each of the areas you’ll work in.
