Lochaber Sensory Care (LSC) is a well established charity within Lochaber, who have been providing services to those in the community living with a hearing and/or sight loss for over 40 years.
We are currently seeking an individual to join our small team, who will be based at our Sensory Centre in Caol, but may also be required to visit clients in their homes throughout Lochaber.
The role will be for 14 hours per week, spread over 2-3 days. Pay rate is £14 per hour.
Responsibilities will include:
- Working at our informal coffee morning/drop-in service, along with volunteers
- Providing advice, support and hearing aid repair and maintenance (no experience necessary, training will be given)
- Answering phone calls, emails and messages
- Assisting the Manager with the running of regular support groups, projects and activities
- Providing services via the post, over the telephone or remotely
- Comprehensive administrative support and record keeping
- Assisting with fundraising efforts
A full driving licence and access to a car is essential.
No experience working with hearing aids is necessary, as training and ongoing support will be available.
It is important to us that the successful candidate:
- Enjoys working with older people
- Works well as part of team or on their own, and is able to kindly lead volunteers when necessary
- Is friendly and has a good sense of humour
- Has strong administration and computer skills, including experience of Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of spreadsheets
- Has a good balance of friendly yet professional communication skills
- Has a genuine interest in Sensory Care, and other aspects of the organisation out with the role
- Is willing to learn new skills
