Hours of Work: Hours are set to meet the needs of the business but are a minimum of 37.5 hours per week .

JOB DESCRIPTION
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
* To support the H&S needs of all Departments through robust policies, processes and systems.
* Compile and review all H&S related documentation, such as risk assessments, safe systems of work, COSHH, etc.
* To be the first point of contact for all health and safety related queries for employees, visitors and contractors.
* Use relevant H&S data (accident reports, RIDDOR reporting, etc.) to generate reports to assist with creating a safe environment for all staff and stakeholders.
* To work with the HR department to maintain and support H&S training needs for all employees and volunteers.
* Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry.
* Undertaking H&S tasks such as collecting data, identifying probable risks, inspecting sites, attending health and safety meetings and carrying out fire drills.
* To keep the Safety Officer informed of how the Club Spectator Safety Policy is being implemented and make recommendations for amendments to the policy.
* Responsibility for monitoring the implementation of the Club’s Health and Safety Policies for employees and stakeholders during a relevant event.
* To work closely with the clubs Head Chef and clubs food & beverage partner to ensure that food hygiene safety regulations are upheld to the highest standards.
* Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
* Record incidents and accidents and produce effective data that can be utilised to reduce H&S risks at Birmingham City Football Club.
* Ensure all vehicle information (tax, MOT, etc.) is updated as per vehicle schedule.
* Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
* To lead on all relevant health & safety audits, including, but not limited to Safe to Operate audits for the boys and girls’ academies.
* To undertake any other responsibilities as directed by the Board of Directors, Leadership Team or Heads of Department.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
* To support the development of a strong Health and Safety focused culture across the Club and promote good health & safety behaviours.
* To have extensive knowledge in Health and Safety legislation and best practice to assist with compliance and continuous improvement of Health and Safety practices at the club.
* To support the development of measurement systems to ensure that Health and Safety performance are accurately monitored.
* To liaise with employees, subcontractors and suppliers on Health and Safety matters as required.
* To identify possible operational risks or opportunities, and work with operational teams to ensure an appropriate and effective response.
* To support the development of briefing and communication strategies to ensure that the Health and Safety plan and important information is understood and operated by all employees and subcontractors.
* Working closely with all departments to ensure the organisation's H&S strategy is implemented successfully.
* Bringing new and creative thinking to the business whilst still maintaining exceptional H&S standards.
* Communicating positive H&S performance effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
* Engaging across the sites, implementing health and safety policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
* Conducting training, toolbox talks, inductions and investigating incidents where required.
* To support the HR team with any occupational health issues and pregnancy risk assessments.
* Reviewing the production of risk assessments and method statements and answering any health and safety related queries.
* Undertaking audits and inspections of the site, identifying areas for improvement, and reporting on the findings.
* Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures contained within the Staff Handbook, paying particular regard to the Safeguarding and Health & Safety policies and procedures at all times.
* Encourage equality and diversity within the workplace and promote a culture that is inclusive for all.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications
* NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) or equivalent H&S qualification.
Experience
* Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
* Experience of undertaking H&S assessments and audits.
* Relevant and up to date experience of Health & Safety.
Desirable Requirements
* Experience in the football industry.
* Experience of managing H&S at a stadium.
Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to understand data protection legislation and systems.
* Ability to understand H&S systems (risk assessments, COSHH etc.)
* Able to work in both a team and independently.
* Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office.
Personal Requirements
* Excellent planning and organisational skills.
* Able to communicate effectively with a range of people and departments.
* Excellent attention to detail.
Terms of Appointment
* 37.5 hours per week.
* 20 days annual leave (rising by 1 day per completed year of service, up to a maximum of 25 days, plus 8 statutory bank holidays).
