What will you be doing?
When you join us as an apprentice, you will:
1. Complete an apprenticeship course relevant to the role, to suit your current education level. At the end of the programme, you will gain a qualification in this field as well as learning the practical skills and hands-on experience doing the job.
2. Join us on our Trainee Development Programme, where you will be given the training and tools to develop your skills through a series of modules over an 18-month period followed by a graduation event.
As a trainee Commissioning Engineer, your development will be focused on gaining training and knowledge in a UK leading Water sector business in the effective commissioning delivery in coordination with multi-disciplined teams including Mechanical Electrical ICA (MEICA) of Southern Water projects, assigned to a commissioning engineer mentor within a project team. You will work closely with the MEICA team in the MEICA & Commissioning delivery on the project up to project completion & takeover including all associated document deliverables. This will include ensuring the site is fully commissioned and operational with the MEICA / Commissioning project takeover requirements delivered to the wider project team in a timely manner.
The commissioning engineer role encompasses input to the design process, understanding the suitability of the mechanical & electrical equipment/processes, testing to ensure the equipment is working correctly, troubleshooting problems/diagnosing faults, documentation to provide evidence of satisfactory testing completion, and technical support in enabling operation, providing commissioning specialist support to the project team including preparation of detailed commissioning procedures.
This role is available for a Summer 2025 start, with the possibility of an earlier start date to suit yourself and the business.
As part of the apprenticeship programme, you will be expected to work in and around the location advertised, with the possibility for travelling to other projects and locations around the UK in the future. This role is site-based with travel.

To qualify for the apprenticeship study requirements, you must have eligibility to live and work in the UK without restriction.
