A highly reputable Sixth Form College in Cambridge is seeking a dedicated and qualified Plumbing and Gas Trainer/Assessor to join its permanent team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the development of future tradespeople in a supportive and well-established academic environment. The position is based at the college's Cambridge campus, starting in January 2025 or sooner if available.
Role Overview: The successful candidate will deliver engaging, high-quality training and assessment in Plumbing and Gas across a range of levels, from beginner to advanced. The role involves supporting students’ practical and theoretical development to help them achieve their qualifications, working closely with both students and the wider training team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver high-standard training sessions in Plumbing and Gas, ensuring adherence to course specifications and college standards.
* Assess students' practical and theoretical work, providing constructive feedback to support learning and skill development.
* Monitor and record students’ progress, maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with relevant awarding bodies.
* Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Plumbing and Gas curriculum and resources.
* Provide additional support and guidance to students to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Candidate Requirements:
* Hold a recognized teaching, training, or assessing qualification (such as AET, CET, DET, or equivalent) or be willing to work towards one.
* Possess industry qualifications in Plumbing and Gas (such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
* Significant experience in the Plumbing and Gas trade, ideally with a strong background in both installation and maintenance.
* Experience in delivering training or assessment in a similar setting is highly desirable.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to the college's ethos and values.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Assessor qualification (such as TAQA, A1, or D32/33).
* Verifiable Gas Safe registration.
* Knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations related to the trade.
