The Welsh Blood Service has an opportunity for an Associate Practitioner position within the Component Development & Research Laboratory.
The post holder will, in conjunction with Research Scientific staff, assist in the research and development studies of the department by performing assays, entering results into databases, and undertaking basic analysis of those results.
Main duties of the job
This role will be within the Component Development and Research laboratory, assisting with research studies. The role will include performing basic laboratory assays, maintaining and promoting the smooth and safe running of the laboratory, and record keeping of such activities, including equipment maintenance and calibration, routine cleaning, temperature monitoring, and stock management of consumables.
Knowledge of how blood donations are processed to transfusable blood components would be a significant advantage for applicants.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* HNC (level 4) in a biological subject, or equivalent experience within a biological science environment.
Experience
* Experience of working in a laboratory environment.
* Experience of working in a blood establishment.
Skills and Attributes
* Ability to follow detailed technical instructions.
* Work as a member of a team, valuing the contribution of others and forming co-operative working relationships with all colleagues.
