Position: Purchasing Specialist
Location: Accurate Marine Environmental, LLC. | Portsmouth, VA
Job Summary: As a Purchasing Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in managing our procurement activities, ensuring efficient purchasing of products, services, and materials. You will maintain accurate inventory records, optimize costs, and build strong supplier relationships. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate purchasing activities for products, services, and subcontracts.
2. Maintain accurate inventory records for all consumable materials.
3. Ensure cost and lead times are optimal and economical.
4. Prepare and issue purchase orders; oversee the ordering process.
5. Follow up on purchases to ensure timely receipt of orders and invoices.
6. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers; manage vendor records.
7. Monitor stock and anticipate future inventory needs.
8. Address vendor disputes and resolve any purchasing-related issues.
9. Provide training on entering requests for purchases in purchasing system as required.
10. Provide training on purchasing system to other employees as required.
Additional Tasks:
1. Manage petty cash and maintain records of expenditures.
2. Serve as a backup to assist with travel arrangements as needed.
3. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
2. Experience with accounting software, specifically Jamis software.
3. Ability to pass a background check to obtain a TWIC badge.
4. Familiar with the entire purchasing process from request to PO to receiving.
Qualifications:
1. Proven experience as a Purchasing Specialist or similar role.
2. Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
3. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
4. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
