This is a fantastic opportunity within a brand new department, and will be based at our Bakkavor Spalding site, which employs over 1,470 people across 3 manufacturing facilities & 1 Distribution Centre. We specialise in making hand crafted sandwich wraps, salads, dips, soups & sauces and mayonnaise. The successful candidate will report into the Transport Supervisor and supervise the cost-effective delivery of transport plans ensuring SLA's and KPI's are achieved whilst complying with legislation, health and safety and customer service. Role Accountabilities: Using Transport systems accurately route plan and schedule vehicles in order to meet pre-agreed times into collection and delivery sites including maintenance workshops in line with the planned maintenance schedule. Actively seek out backloads so there is no empty running. Provides instruction, support, and guidance to drivers and agency workers as required, before and during their shift. Assign drivers to allocated runs using the drivers rota spreadsheet. Brief and debrief drivers prior to despatch and following return to site, ensure driver cards are downloaded and tachographs are analysed and infringements are signed passed to compliance administrator. Ensure POD's are captured and checked noting any discrepancies and passed to the Transport administrator for filing. Input data into the relevant transport spreadsheets. Record defects and action as necessary in line with the procedures to keep the fleet compliant, liaising with Compliance administrator and the Transport operations Supervisor. Conduct call outs for breakdowns to maintenance providers as and when required. Record accidents and incidents as and when required at the time of the accident or incident, save data relating to the accident/incident and communicate to senior members of the team. Effectively track drivers using the relevant systems ensuring communication regarding delays/issues and any unauthorised routes/delays with drivers are escalated Send communication regarding in and out times of deliveries and collections to the relevant customers ensuring the customers are notified of any issues in advance. Complete a daily handover for the following shift noting any issues or any information which will need to be handed over. About you: Experience of working within a busy transport office IT literate with experience of using Microsoft packages and transport systems Excellent attention to detail and communication skills Able to work as part of a team and independently Self-starter with the ability to work using their own initiative What you'll receive.
