JOB DESCRIPTION - Flexibility within this role; this can be a job share, i.e., a person doing weekday hours and a person completing weekend hours. Location – Woodlesford – Car driver essential with business insurance; fuel will be recompensed from pick-up and drop-off. Experience of autism is essential. Hours per week – Monday to Friday 8 hours @ £12.40. Weekends 7 hours @ £15.44. Additional 17 weeks @ 20 hours (school holidays) @ £11.44 Monday to Friday.
Training will be provided by the council. DBS completed prior to starting the role. Two references will be taken up. Holiday entitlement – 5.6 weeks per annum pro-rata. Job Purpose – To support a young lady with autism and learning difficulties in the community to promote her independence. The lady initially can be quiet and appear anxious, especially in busy places, but has a happy demeanor and can interpret social cues, though she may misread them. She loves food, especially going out for meals, shopping, bowling, and the cinema. The person would understand autism, as she can become overloaded in certain situations. She loves art and has just started therapy sessions. The person would accompany her to People Matters on a Saturday and work some hours during the week. You will liaise with her parents regarding how the hours could be used. Initially, it will require a few 'getting to know you' sessions in the home. Some hours would be used in the home helping her to cook or bake to help promote her independence, which she is already doing at school, so it would be beneficial to carry that forward. She likes technology, i.e., using her phone and iPad, is a keen gamer, and loves anime and Manga. She has a dog, a Cockapoo called Reggie, who she adores. She loves beanies and has lots of bears. The person supporting her will have experience working with people with autism, understand how her behavior impacts her and others, and understand confidentiality.
