About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Insurance Professional to focus on underwriting for our two mutual insurance associations, The Wren Insurance Association Limited and The Griffin Insurance Association Limited. This role will involve typical underwriting duties to include carrying out renewal visits with Members, setting rates for renewal and mid-year amendments and contributing to reinsurance renewals.
The successful candidate will join a team of 7, reporting into our Underwriting Divisional Director.
The role will involve some UK travel and an opportunity for overseas travel in future.
Your Responsibilities
Renewal
* Manage the renewal process with the team.
* Carry out renewal visits and produce renewal pro forma for circulation
* Review and propose renewal rates to the Underwriting Divisional Director and Senior Underwriting Director
Reinsurance
* Supervise the monitoring of estimated and actual cost of reinsurance and liaise with Accounts and Actuarial teams
* Check quarterly and half-yearly reinsurance narratives from claims handlers
* Oversee the preparation of the draft reinsurance submission
* Attend meetings with reinsurers and reinsurance brokers
Review & Supervise
* Supervise the printing and circulation of claims information.
* Monitoring of Accounts and checking of turnover figures against income declarations.
* Supervise the production of, check and issue Certificates of Entry, Certificates of Insurance and any Endorsements thereto, debit and credit notes and any non-standard evidence of insurance letters
* Supervise the process of summarising proposal form information on an excel spreadsheet and the carrying out of post renewal file review
* Assist with the amendment of claim payment details on the system where necessary
Other
* Review credit control reports and to speak to Members where appropriate
* Calculation of mid-policy year adjustments to include proposal of terms to an Underwriting Director as required.
* Ensure correct procedures for cancellation of cover and Release of Members is followed
* Monitor the withdrawal of notices of cancellation made by Members
* Contribute to discussions on Rule changes
* Attend ad-hoc potential Member meetings and suggest rating to the Underwriting Director as required.
About You
Knowledge/Experience
* Significant Underwriting experience working within the Insurance industry either within a Mutual Insurer or in Professional Indemnity Insurance.
* Demonstratable experience of rating complex risks and drafting policy amendments
* Willingness to work towards Advanced Diploma in Insurance in the future.
Qualifications/Education
* Diploma in Insurance
* A-levels or equivalent
Skills
* Drafting skills
* Advanced Excel skills to include the use of advanced formulas and functions eg. VLOOKUP, PivotTables.
