Function as the organisational link with NHS England and the Medicines Healthcare and Regulatory Agency to receive essential communication and escalate concerns about safe use of medicines. Be a member of the National Medication Safety Network, ensuring relevant national initiatives and learning are implemented within the Trust Represent the Trust at regional and system level Medication Safety networks Be an active member of the Trust Medicines Governance Group. This acts as the Trust medicines safety group. Update the Trust Medication Safety programme, ensuring it develops in line with national, regional and local initiatives as well as being informed by Trust safety priorities and learning from incidents. Lead on the implementation of medicines related National Patient Safety alerts, collaborating with the wider clinical teams Encourage the reporting of medicines incidents by all staff Improve the quality of medication error reporting including review and reclassification of individual incidents for data quality purposes as required Produce the Trust Quarterly Medication Safety report, demonstrating oversight of medicines incidents, identification of trust wide trends and themes and learning from them. Work in partnership with other professionals and system partners to reduce the number of moderate and severe harm medication related event throughout the Trust and ICS. Identifying and implementing new ways of working as required. Lead on the development and update of Trust medication safety related policies Support the development of Trust electronic prescribing and medicines administration in relation to medication safety Work closely with the Patient Safety Team in the implementation of Patient Safety Incident Response Framework, participating in learning activities and any investigations as needed with regards to medicines Undertake training to be able to undertake Structured Judgement Reviews Support the Accountable Officer for Controlled Drugs in relation to controlled drug incident reporting, investigation and producing reports
