About the job Financial Controller
Exciting opportunity to join this growing business based in Stanford-le-Hope. We are looking for a results-driven and confident financial controller to manage and improve our client organization's financial performance and manage their accounting operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage team to ensure accounting records are maintained on a timely accurate basis for the company and associated companies.
* Prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts on a timely basis for all companies.
* Provide accurate and concise information to directors/managers.
* Maintain cashflow summary for the business.
* Produce annual budgets for the company and annual variances.
* Aid directors with ad hoc financial reporting including assisting director with strategic planning.
* Provide key contributions to the company financial strategy and decision-making processes.
* Oversee the administration of payroll and auto enrolment reporting requirements.
* Oversee the preparation of VAT return preparation and submission.
* Liaise with accountants with statutory reporting and audit requirements.
* Manage and develop staff within the finance function.
* Supervise the maintenance of all financial systems, whilst identifying aspects that can be improved and implementing any necessary changes to support business development.
* Develop and supervise the implementation of internal financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems.
* Oversee the management of accounts receivable and accounts payable ledgers.
* Lead the end-to-end audit process of current systems, while acting as a point of contact for external auditors.
* Take overall responsibility for the management of financial details to ensure that legal requirements are met.
Experience and Skills Required
* Minimum 5 years experience in similar role in a commercial environment.
* Experience within the Haulage industry beneficial, but not essential.
* ACA/ACCA qualified.
* Good communication skills; fluent spoken and written English.
* Advanced knowledge using SAGE.
* Experience of reviewing and implementing changes to systems and processes with the finance function.
* Someone who has a can-do attitude.
* Good knowledge of Excel, Outlook and Word.
* Demonstrate positivity, approachability and have an investigative nature.
* A practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques.
* Solid knowledge of standard accountancy and finance best practices.
* Solid IT skills, including proficiency in the relevant accounting packages.
* A strong understanding of tax principles and laws.
* Strong analytical skills to effectively analyse financial reports.
* In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting.
