Job Description
In this role, you will support the head of the department in driving the compliance function forward ensuring that the business delivers and adheres to objectives and to internal / external policies and procedures:
1. Oversee a small compliance team ensuring they have an excellent understanding of risk and compliance, and that there is ongoing assurance of the relevant group policies and standards.
2. Ensure that robust processes and controls are in place to prevent breaches and incidents.
3. Provide guidance and oversight, and challenge the business in the application of risk and compliance with policies.
4. Work with the wider business to ensure risks and control are identified, validated and documented.
5. Provide advice and guidance and challenge to the business in the relevant areas, assessing risk and controls.
6. Communicating and updating all business areas on regulatory updates and changes.
7. Acting as a point of contact or escalation regarding risk and compliance queries.
8. Maintaining second line oversight of first line defence controls with regards to QA, complaints, training and other areas.
9. Compliance monitoring and taking the lead on all testing.
10. Providing risk, regulatory and compliance support to ensure all projects are compliant.
11. Second line oversight and reporting on breaches and incidents.
12. Preparing relevant MI to find gaps in compliance issues and carrying out relevant analysis to help identify and resolve these issues.
The Successful Applicant
As Compliance Manager, you must have:
1. Experience working in a management level, compliance-based role within financial services.
2. Strong leadership and managerial skills ideally.
3. Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills, and not afraid to challenge stakeholders.
4. Experience of taking the lead in projects.
5. Strong regulatory knowledge and experience working in a regulated environment e.g. FCA, CONC etc.
6. Well organised, forward thinking and eye for detail.
