SEN Teaching Assistant Taunton Full time Special Educational Needs Ages 7 - 19 Immediate start I am working with a fantastic special school located just outside of the historic town of Taunton. Their aim is to support pupils' growth through a safe and supportive environment where learning becomes an enjoyable experience, embodying the values of Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Caring. In 2019, the school were the winners of the Positive Behaviour Support Award at the National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards. Students at the school will have speech and language delay, impairments or disorder, along with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and/ or moderate and severe learning. Your role of teaching Assistant will be a support to both students and tutors, ensuring their learning needs are met with a positive attitude. You must show confidence and be an excellent role model to pupils, in addition to being flexible to follow instructions from peers. You will be working with students to enable them to discover their potential is a key part to working at this school. Outdoor learning, drama and music are some of the many lesson plans used here. Knowledge of SEN is vital, including autism ; in addition to Social Emotional and Mental health. The head teacher is looking for a confident individual who can show maturity and positivity to the role. You must be a friendly, trusting person to build an excellent rapports with both students and staff. You will be considered for the role if you have experience of working in a secondary school mainstream environment, supporting a student with learning difficulties. More so, if you have worked in a special educational school prior to your application. If you’ve dedicated time to be awarded certificates in specialist education, this will aid your application. The hours of work will be 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, during term times. You will be working with pupils in Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4, which is entry level for GCSE. This is a full time, long - term position, commencing as soon as possible.
