Psychological Health Services is looking for enthusiastic, ambitious and professional Assistant Psychologists to join the LIAISE team. The post holders will be eligible for membership of the British Psychological Society at Graduate Basis for Registration having achieved either a 2:1 honours degree, or higher, in psychology or having completed a British Psychological Society accredited psychology conversion course. We strongly encourage applications from psychologists from groups under-represented within psychological professions.

The role will vary, but will have elements of patient engagement, assessing the needs of families, applying for grants/support, providing general advice and guidance for parents, assisting other specialties with support for events (i.e. open days), supporting the Friends for Parents volunteers, and supporting practitioner psychologists working in paediatric, adult, and staff support services. Multi-disciplinary working in a range of patient settings may be required alongside Engagement Support Workers, Youth Workers, and the LIAISE team.

Qualifications
* 1st or Upper 2nd Honours degree in Psychology with graduate basis for registration to the British Psychological Society (BPS)
* Trained in psychometric testing
* Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology and/or research design and analysis
Knowledge and Experience
* Relevant experience working/ volunteering in health, care or education settings with children or adults.
* Comfortable and confident communicating with individuals from a range of cultural backgrounds, including those who do not speak English as a first language
* High level of computer literacy and competence in the use of word processing, database, PowerPoint, and statistical packages for the social sciences, including Microsoft Excel and SPSS
* Relevant experience working in research
* Experience of using qualitative interviewing methods
* Experience of working within multidisciplinary teams
* Ability to quickly learn and assimilate new skills and knowledge, so that they can be relied upon to carry out technical and basic clinical tasks effectively, without direct supervision once training is complete
* Interest and motivation to work in clinical psychology and/or neuropsychology
* Good observational skills to note and record relevant behavioural data that may impact the interpretation of test data
Skills and Abilities
* The ability to work effectively as part of a team is essential. The ability to liaise with staff of all levels, patients and members of the public is required
* Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills that can be applied with confidence to communication with professional colleagues, senior colleagues within the health service, and patients and their families or carers
* Demonstrate skills in interpersonal interaction and communication to develop rapport with patients of varying ages, levels of cognitive function and emotional stability
* Excellent written and oral communication
* Excellent organisational, time management and task management skills to respond to the demands of the post
