We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a senior Compliance professional to lead the compliance function for the Financial Services (“FS”) part of the UW business.
To be successful in this role you will possess a deep knowledge of financial services regulations, strong leadership skills and the ability to implement, embed and supervise effective compliance across a growing and dynamic business. We’re continuing to scale at pace so you’ll be focused on developing a best-in-class compliance approach to support the business as it grows.
Here’s the key skills and experience we’re looking for you to bring:
3. Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or related field (Master’s degree or relevant certifications such as ICA, CAMS, CRCM, or CCEP preferred).
4. Significant experience in compliance within the financial services industry operating as a lead in this space working closely with an Exec team as a subject matter expert. Ideally you'll have experience in with General Insurance products.
5. Extensive knowledge of financial services regulations and industry best practices, including experience in leading compliance investigations.
6. Proven track record of implementing effective compliance programs, including Consumer Duty implementation.
7. Strong leadership and team management skills.
8. Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
9. Ability to influence and gain buy-in from senior stakeholders.
10. You can evidence that you build strong relationships and partnerships with our partners and regulators.
11. You’ll be confident to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
12. You’ll need to be comfortable operating in an agile, fast-paced and dynamic organisation and navigating the complexity of multiple services.
13. Ability to analyse complex regulatory requirements and compliance issues.
14. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions.

Reporting into our Legal & Compliance Director, you will play a key role in our Legal & Compliance Leadership team working with counterparts in Compliance across our Energy and Telco space and leading a team of two. You will also work very closely with our Chief Commercial Officer and sit on their Commercial Leadership Team as a subject matter expert. You will also work in partnership with our commercial and product teams.

Over the last few years the FS business unit at UW has rapidly scaled from a startup to one of the 50 largest personal lines intermediaries in the UK (by GWP). As Head of Financial Services Compliance, you’ll build on the great work the teams have already put in place, developing our Financial Services compliance approach to be best-in-class for a fast-growth organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy:
18. Develop and implement the compliance strategy in alignment with our FS goals.
19. Lead a small compliance team, providing direction, support, and professional development.
20. Serve as a senior advisor to the executive team on FS compliance-related matters.
Regulatory Compliance:
21. Monitor and interpret new and existing financial services regulations, ensuring UW’s policies and procedures comply.
22. Develop, implement, and oversee the compliance framework, policies, and procedures.
23. Ensure compliance with relevant UK regulations, as well as oversight over Gibraltar-specific requirements.
Risk Management:
24. Identify and assess compliance risks associated with the UW’s activities.
25. Develop and implement measures to mitigate identified risks.
26. Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and audits .
Training and Education:
27. Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on compliance obligations.
28. Embed a culture of compliance and ethical behaviour within UW.
Monitoring and Reporting:
29. Establish and maintain effective compliance monitoring and reporting systems.
30. Prepare and present regular compliance reports to the executive team and board of directors.
31. Handle regulatory inquiries, examinations, and audits.
Policy Development:
32. Draft, review, and update compliance policies and procedures.
33. Ensure policies are effectively communicated and implemented across the business.
Third-Party Management:
34. Oversee the compliance of third-party service providers.
35. Conduct due diligence and ongoing monitoring of third-party relationships.
Investigation and Resolution:
36. Lead investigations into compliance breaches or issues.
37. Develop corrective action plans and oversee their implementation.
