The Role
As HR Advisor with South Staffs Water you will provide generalist HR support service, supporting colleagues and line managers to achieve the company objectives, whilst contributing to the development of our culture and engagement across the business.
Responsibilities:

Guide, support and upskill Managers in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, absence, and performance management.
Advise Managers on the effective application of employment law, ACAS guidelines and our policies and procedures, treating colleagues fairly, in line with good practice and legislative requirements whilst meeting business needs.
Be able to support conflict resolution.
Support implementation of change programs and other organisational changes.
Coordination of the recruitment cycle working in partnership with group Talent Acquisition Team.
Supporting Managers with effective onboarding of new hires including the coordination of Company Induction and delivery of the HR element of that process.
To ensure adherence with all compliance standards and always operate with integrity.
Administration of HR related documents associated with employee relations and performance management.
Undertake family policy related meetings with employees plus complete the associated administration.
Proactively support flexible working requests and manage sickness absences (short and long term), providing appropriate advice / guidance and ensuring associated administration is accurate and up to date. Co-ordination of referrals to Occupational Health.
In conjunction with the People Operations and Payroll teams ensure processes associated with new starters, changes to terms and conditions and leavers are completed accurately and on time.
Supporting employee communications and engagement activities such as focus groups, people, and wellbeing forums.
Support the development and maintenance of the HR strategy and participate in ad hoc projects as they arise.
Maintain a high level of continuing professional development by undertaking training, attending networking evenings and reading professional updates to keep knowledge up to date in employment law and HR best practice.

What You’ll Need
Significant experience of dealing with people issues including disciplinary and grievance and capability.
Excellent knowledge of UK Employment Legislation and HR Best Practice along with the ability to put this into practice.
Excellent verbal / written communication skills and active listening skills.
Strong stakeholder management skills
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships across the business.
Strong attention to detail.
A good ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
High level of trust and integrity when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.
A genuine values champion who will demonstrate the behaviours that underpin our values.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Proficiency with using HR Information Systems.
Previous experience in a unionised environment.
CIPD qualification, or equivalent experience.
Decision making, evaluation of risk, sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
