B5/6 Community Occupational Therapist (developmental)
Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
An excellent opportunity has arisen to be part of our dynamic Occupational Therapy service.
As a service, we have developed innovative ways of delivering occupational therapy in the Runnymede and Spelthorne Community Mental Health Recovery Services to support people in their recovery journey, including a variety of occupationally focused programmes. The post constitutes a 50% delivery of Occupational Therapy interventions and a 50% care coordination/lead professional for people with occupational needs. The post will include delivering both individual and group occupational therapy interventions within a clear care pathway, including:
1. Occupation Matters Programme: a 20-week group that utilises Lifestyle Redesign principles, developed within the Trust, positively impacting the lives of people who access our services.
2. Recovery through Occupation: a 6-week group using the Re-Motivation process to improve motivation and social skills, resulting in significant improvements on the Volitional Questionnaire during this intervention.
3. New Horizons: our occupational therapy-led discharge pathway enabling people to reconnect with their communities and previous roles to support a smooth transition from secondary services.
4. Individual occupational therapy
5. Comprehensive occupational therapy assessments
Main duties of the job
We use the Model of Human Occupation to guide all our occupational therapy assessments and interventions, focusing on embedding occupational science and neuroscience into our practice.
The occupational therapy leadership team is committed to an extensive, coordinated CPD programme, including a robust supervision structure, care group meetings, Trust-wide and core competence training, and an annual conference. Staff are valued for their expertise in occupationally focused interventions and specialist group therapy.
This post is suitable for those with previous experience in mental health who want to consolidate their knowledge of occupational therapy and deliver high-quality, evidence-based, outcome-measured occupational therapy interventions. This post also provides an opportunity to develop skills in care coordinating service users with an occupational therapy focus and being part of the assessment team.
If you are creative, committed to lifelong learning, good at using your initiative, and dedicated to providing high-quality occupational therapy with recovery on your agenda, then apply today.
The candidate must have a full and valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes due to the community element of this role.
