Main duties and responsibilities:
1. To enjoy and support SU with doing Muppet Shows.
2. To be creative in regards to arts and crafts.
3. To enjoy going for walks to the park.
4. To support a SU with complex needs and around their behaviour.
5. To notice signs before behaviour escalates and use distraction techniques as per SU Positive Behaviour Plan.
6. To participate in day-to-day support with individuals.
7. To support SU with day-to-day tasks.
8. To maintain effective communication and liaison with service user, management, family, and others while respecting appropriate confidentiality.
9. To support service users with the preparation of meals, laundry duties, cleaning, and social events.
10. To maintain accurate notes and records as required.
11. To work as part of a team to provide high-quality care.
12. To support SU with singing and dancing.
13. To provide personal care support (bathing, showering, toileting).
14. To support community-based activities (swimming, bowling, Zumba, gym, shopping, cycling, cinema).
15. To support around challenging behaviour, being aware of triggers and recalling signs before escalation.
Personal Characteristics:
1. Familiar or willing to learn about Muppets from Sesame Street.
2. Basic computer skills.
3. Willing to play musical instruments with the SU.
4. Diploma (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards one.
5. Experience in supporting adults with challenging behaviour, autism spectrum, epilepsy, learning disabilities, and/or mental health issues.
6. Awareness of Positive Behaviour Approach.
7. The ability to keep calm under pressure.
8. The confidence to work with individuals with challenging behaviour.
9. Excellent communication skills.
10. The passion to work with vulnerable adults.
11. The desire and commitment to achieve high standards of safeguarding.
12. Enjoyment of singing and dancing with the SU.
13. Working knowledge of PBS approach.
14. Recording skills.
15. Self-motivated to support service users in planning their activities.
