We are part of a network of only 15 assessment centres in England specialising in outdoor mobility solutions and this will be a great opportunity for someone looking to expand their knowledge and skills and advance their career, as we offer full training.
This is a new and exciting opportunity to support the development of a new outreach service based in Hampshire. You will work alongside multi-disciplinary teams in client centred environments to apply your skills and knowledge to assess individual driver safety for full licence holders and identify learning potential for provisional licence holders. You will also advise on transfer solutions for accessing/egressing vehicles including wheelchair accessible vehicles.
We are looking for a qualified OT band 5 or Band 6 level or appropriately qualified clinicians from other disciplines (e.g. physiotherapist with specialism in cognitive assessment or wheelchair equipment).
All training will be completed at Carshalton, Leatherhead or Worthing.
This role is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks which will include an Enhanced with children and adults barred list check by the DBS (at the cost of QEF if you are not already a member of The Update Service).
Main duties of the job
JOB PURPOSE
To conduct a practical trial of product suitability forthe clients medical, physical and lifestyle needs, to recommend the mostsuitable electric powered wheelchair or mobility scooter and advise on vehiclestowage options and transport requirements including hi-tech solutions andwheelchair accessible vehicles.
To undertake car transfer, equipment loading, seating andposture assessments, to advise clients of more suitable options and resolvemanual handling concerns. A basicunderstanding of posture management is required to assess seating requirementsto improve pressure care and comfort, including car seat solutions,wheelchairs and scooters and travel by any medium including aeroplane, bus,taxi and train.
To undertake a driving assessmentwith a drivingassessor to assess and advise on driving safety by conducting an initialassessment,. Liaise with external agencies to assess for and arrangeprovision of appropriate equipment and adaptations to maximise independence.
Assist the ADI to monitor driving lessons and liaise with Pearson to enable special requirements forlearner drivers to pass the theory test
Assist in the preparation and delivery of internal/externaltraining courses for professionals and others and participate in the deliveryof in-service training for staff.
Supervision of assistant staff, maintainclinical records, write reports adhering to the COT guidelines and toQEF policies.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

* Liaise with Pearson to enable special requirements for learner drivers to pass the theory test
o Assist in the preparation and delivery of internal/external training courses for professionals and others and participate in the delivery of in-service training for staff.
o Supervision of assistant staff and/or education and supervision of students on clinical placement as agreed.
o Maintain clinical records and write reports to a professional standard efficiently and effectively adhering to the COT guidelines for documentation and adhering to QEF and Driving Mobility documentation policy and standards.
OTHER DUTIES
* You are expected to perform various tasks as necessitated by your changing role within QEF and the charitys overall business objectives as reasonably requested by your designated manager or the CEO.
* You must read and ensure you understand the current versions of QEFs policies and procedures and undertake to act in accordance with them at all times.
* You may be required to work at other locations in accordance with the responsibilities and duties of your role.

* EXPERIENCE
* Post qualification experience of working with physical disability and neurological rehabilitation
* Experience of assessing for and ordering/prescribing/fitting
* equipment and adaptations
* Experience in administering standardised assessments and clinical reasoning in choosing appropriate assessments including home visits
* Experience with manual handing
* Experience in composing risk assessments
* Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
* Experience in developing standards and application of national guidelines to clinical practice

Qualifications

* Membership of Health Professionals council
* Evidence of relevant post graduate courses/continual professional development

* Trained in MoCA & Rookwood
