Are you a Qualified RN with experience of working in an acute care setting? Do you have the hard-working, enthusiastic and conscientious approach it takes to work in a fast-paced and rewarding environment? Then consider a move to the Trust's Haematology day unit team.
The unit is open 7 days per week, and hours will be worked flexibly between the hours of 08.30 and 19.00. The day unit is housed in a state-of-the-art new building providing care for patients with malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions under one roof. We're also part of one of the major units in the country offering chemotherapy, bone marrow transplants, sickle cell, anaemia care and haemophilia care.
We're a friendly, experienced team that work hard but genuinely enjoy what we are doing. We go out of our way to spend time with the patients and their families and hope this encourages better care. We're aware that it's hard work but, for the right person, it's a perfect opportunity to extend your skills within a Trust that's a center of excellence for care and research. Come and be part of that excellence.
Main duties of the job
The department currently has JACIE accreditation and is renowned for its excellent standards of care underpinned by evidence-based practice. We're expanding year on year too, so the work within OPD is sure to present exciting challenges and opportunities. The role of Staff Nurse is both challenging and interesting. As well as co-coordinating the outpatient activity to ensure the service is well run and waiting times are kept to a minimum, you'll also get involved in service improvements within the department. A great chance to develop leadership skills that are patient-centered, you'll also be encouraged to expand and develop your knowledge, skills and competencies within a supported and friendly environment. Whilst haematology experience is not necessary, you must be willing to learn about the specialty. Integrity and vision, plus a real desire to take the service forward and expand the nursing role, are also essential. In return, there will be various training opportunities available on and off site and you'll also have a personal development plan that's tailored to your individual needs.
