Hostel Support Workers play an essential role in supporting homeless people into suitable accommodation. The role requires a flexible nature as shifts are often at irregular hours. This role also requires individuals to carry out the day-to-day administration of many of the hostel processes. Clients from within this sector often also request the following training of employees: Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA) Manual Handling Medication Awareness Basic First Aid Job Overview The role of a Hostel Support Worker is to provide support and assistance to individuals with homeless issues. This role also requires individuals to work with other agencies outside of the hostel in supporting homeless individuals e.g. Police, Social Services. The role may also require individuals to deal with out-of-hours referrals often at short notice. A Hostel Support Worker is responsible for: Ensuring that hostel occupants comply with hostel rules and regulations Allocating rooms / bedding and other resource to occupants and ensuring that all hostel equipment is maintained to a good standard Reporting any breakages / repairs needed to appropriate teams within the business e.g. maintenance, management Ensuring that hostel administration and financial reports are completed to a good standard Ensuring that health and safety procedures are explained and adhered to within the hostel To provide relevant information to all visitors to the hostel To liaise with Housing Officers where appropriate to meet client needs To promote a sense of equality and diversity throughout the business To ensure standards of customer care are to a high standard Skills To understand the importance of data protection issues To have excellent communication skills To have empathetic nature To be able to work in stressful situations To understand the wider issues surrounding homelessness Awareness of health and safety issues Computer literate To work as part of a team If you are interested in the role, please apply and or contact Heather on 01619132450 About You What we offer our Care Assistants: Advanced block booked shifts.
