Job Description:
Bookkeeper/accounts assistant role, based within a highly experienced, forward-thinking accountancy practice. The firm was established in 1919 and provides a wide range of services, including accounting, audit, tax, business planning, payroll, and more.
They are a highly successful medium-sized firm with 4 partners and 50 members of staff. They pride themselves on being innovative, approachable, practical, forward-thinking, and personal.
They are recruiting for someone in a bookkeeper/accounts assistant role. This is an exciting opportunity to join a brilliant firm and to progress your career.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients, including recording transactions, reconciling bank statements, and updating general ledgers.
2. Prepare and process journal entries, adjustments, and accruals to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
3. Process accounts payable invoices, including verifying coding, obtaining approvals, and processing payments in a timely manner.
4. Generate and send invoices to clients, monitor accounts receivable aging, and follow up on overdue payments as needed.
5. Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies and ensuring accuracy in cash balances.
6. Assist in preparing VAT returns for clients, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations and timely submission to tax authorities.
7. Support senior staff members in preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations, as needed.
8. Provide administrative support to clients, including responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and assisting with document preparation and filing.
9. Liaise with clients to collect necessary financial information and documentation, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
Qualifications:
* No required qualifications, although AAT or ATT is preferred.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
* At least 2 years of practice experience.
* Standard holiday.
