Job Title: Automation Lead – Technical Operations, Science and Innovation (PT&D)

We are currently looking for an Associate Principal Scientist in Automation, in our Technical Operations, Science and Innovation (TOSI) function, a multi-skilled global organisation within our Pharmaceutical Technology and Development (PT&D) department. This is an exciting opportunity where you will take the lead in developing our quality control laboratories, taking the next step into the future.
Accountabilities:
You will join a highly collaborative team identifying and implementing solutions for automation to take analytical science in our quality control (QC) laboratories, at our commercial manufacturing sites, to the next level of efficiency, quality, and innovation. You will work globally cross TOSI and with our key partners in PT&D and commercial manufacturing sites. You will be accountable for and lead automation projects, prepare business cases and lead change management in conjunction with implementation of the new automated systems. This is a specialist role where you will support the development, implementation, and lifecycle management of our global automation strategy, working with colleagues globally, nurturing the deployment of automated workflows.
Crucial Skills/Experience:
1. University degree or equivalent experience (BSc, MSc, PhD) in relevant subject area, with proven experience
2. Experience of owning the development and application of automated systems and software applications, in a GxP environment
3. Experience of workflow analysis and development
4. Excellent knowledge of solutions available for analytical automation, with awareness of global automation suppliers and a record of leading supplier selection for automated systems and services
5. Strong understanding of the life-cycle management process of automated systems with extensive knowledge and understanding of commercial requirements of automation including regulatory expectations related to validation of computerised systems
6. You have expertise in implementation of analytical automation in a pharmaceutical setting and show evidence of having led and worked in a global setting.
7. Excellent change management and communication skills
Desirable Skills/Experience:
8. Experience of project management/project leadership
9. Expertise in a range of analytical techniques relevant for drug products
10. Experience in writing or adapting code
11. Knowledge of AI and implementation of self-optimising systems
