The Opportunity
Under supervision of the OT Manager and a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will deliver effective OT interventions to children/young people and their families, informed by current research, legislation, and policy.
The Role
You will be based within the South quadrant team but may work across different locations based on service demand. Your casework will focus on children and young people needing equipment and home adaptations. You should be an effective communicator committed to high-quality service. The team is passionate about maximizing independence and well-being for children with additional needs.
Job Purpose Summary
As above, delivering OT interventions under supervision, informed by current research, legislation, and policy.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Promote independence and facilitate choice and empowerment.
* Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed.
* Provide information and advice on support options.
* Brief supervisor/team manager on case developments.
* Participate in supervision and professional development.
* Assist in developing and implementing new service initiatives.
* Contribute to team development and training.
* Be mobile across Essex, requiring a valid driving license and car, unless alternative arrangements are made.
Role Specific Accountabilities
* Conduct specialist assessments considering societal, cultural, and environmental barriers.
* Assess the impact of impairments on development and well-being.
* Identify safeguarding risks and support investigations.
* Assess needs and risks, and plan appropriate actions.
* Coordinate services to meet needs while ensuring value for money.
* Work effectively with other professionals.
* Prepare detailed reports and plans.
* Recommend and specify adaptations to remove environmental barriers.
* Ensure safe use of equipment and evaluate its effectiveness.
* Manage a caseload appropriate to your expertise.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to workload statistics.
The Experience You Will Bring
* Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists or equivalent qualification.
* HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
* Experience working with children and young people with disabilities.
* Knowledge of assessing and prescribing equipment.
* Knowledge of adaptations to promote independence.
The role requires mobility across Essex and beyond, including transporting service users. A driving license and car, or alternative means to meet mobility needs, are essential.
