We are looking for a meticulous and analytical thinker who is an adept and talented communicator at all levels. Someone who can excel at finding a range of innovative data-driven solutions to tough problems using a blend of data analytical tools. You will have a working knowledge of common enablers like SQL, R, Python, or Power BI.
With your team members, you will tackle exciting projects, solve intricate problems, and answer crucial questions using your digital toolbox. You will play a pivotal role in addressing some of the greatest challenges currently facing us, making a real difference to our patients.
As part of a small team, you will be involved in many varied projects such as patient flow optimisation, service and operational workflow optimisation, using algorithms for forecasting, clustering, predicting, simulation and scenario modelling, and natural language processing using LLMs.
We would expect you to be knowledgeable in some of these techniques, and with continual professional development, you will level up and expand your talents.
Main duties of the job
1. Develop a long-term strategy for data analytics within Clinical Boards and Directorates, aligned to the UHB's overarching digital strategy and planning.
2. Advise on Clinical Boards and Directorates priorities that should be taken to the UHB's Digital Advisory Board and Clinical Reference Group.
3. Develop innovative approaches to improve the data analytics capabilities within Clinical Boards and Directorates. Examples include text mining, sentiment analysis, and natural language data processing.
4. Manage all areas of performance data analysis for the entire business and ensure that data visualisation is clear and unambiguous.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job responsibilities
1. Analyse and interpret complex workforce and quality-related data to inform strategic planning and direction. For example, triangulate multiple data sets to advise which clinical areas may require additional training or improvements.
2. Provide expert advice about the use of data sets which contain conflicting information, or advise on the acquisition of new data to improve professional judgements.
3. Present complex, sensitive, and disputative information to a diverse audience comprised of senior managers, clinicians, and digital staff groups.
4. Explore innovative approaches to inform service delivery plans (e.g. predictive analytics and predictive forecasting).
5. Work in partnership with clinical teams, business change, and wider IM&T teams to resolve issues that may prevent or compromise data flow and the accuracy of information reported.

Qualifications
* Specialist knowledge in analysis methodologies and understanding of the NHS and public sector performance agenda, measures and definitions.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Significant experience of working across several disciplines including performance, planning, financial, information systems, and staff management.
Skills
* Specialist knowledge in analysis methodologies and understanding of the NHS and public sector performance agenda, measures and definitions.
* Ability to analyse and appropriately present often highly complex data to staff at all levels of the organisation.
