We're looking for an HR Advisor to join our busy People Services function. If like us, you have a passion for innovative people practices, doing things differently and most importantly putting the customer at the heart of all you do, we want to hear from you.
Day-to-day you'll be working on a range of people activities and initiatives from case work, people analytics and change. You will support the HR Manager to deliver the Force's and People Services Strategy. These roles are based within Local Policing teams. We have one position available in Coventry.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
1. People Management Advice: Provide tactical advice and support on all HR matters, including contentious issues, attendance, welfare, and grievance management.
2. SLT & Portfolio Engagement: Collaborate closely with portfolio HR Managers, providing input and updates for Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meetings, including data, reports, and strategic options.
3. People Plans: Manage and update portfolio-specific people plans, covering talent, skills training, and recruitment, ensuring fairness and consistency across the force.
4. Disciplinary & Dispute Support: Offer comprehensive advice regarding disciplinary policies and actively support misconduct hearings, ensuring fair and professional outcomes.
5. Occupational Health & Wellbeing: Manage Occupational Health referrals, support IHR processes, and engage sensitively with stakeholders to ensure timely case management.
6. Policy & Regulation Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulations (e.g., Regulation 28, Police Staff Pay Panel), providing timely and accurate advice to line managers, and supporting all necessary paperwork and processes.
7. Team Management: Oversee HR Officers, ensuring service delivery meets quality and consistency standards across portfolios, and maintain effective working relationships with Occupational Health to improve processes and manager capabilities.
8. Workforce Planning: Ensure accurate workforce planning and establishment management, focusing on student officer rotations, officer postings, and functional alignment with entry routes and training programs.
9. Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data to identify risks, opportunities, and solutions, providing evidence-based HR guidance.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
1. CIPD Qualified: Fully or partially qualified, or actively studying toward it.
2. Experience in Complex Organisations: Experience within fast-paced, complex environments with competing HR demands.
3. HR Generalist Expertise: A solid background in providing advice across a range of HR policies and processes.
4. Strong Employment Law Knowledge: A deep understanding of employment law and its practical application within a large organization.
5. Case Management Proficiency: Expertise in managing complex cases to successful outcomes.
6. Workforce Planning Knowledge: Familiarity with establishment management and workforce resourcing processes.
7. Leadership & Communication Skills: The ability to manage relationships, provide clear communication across functions, and effectively manage HR Officers.
8. Data-Driven Approach: Use of data to provide insights, identify risks, and offer solutions in HR decision-making.
9. Administrative and Confidentiality Skills: Strong planning, prioritization, and confidentiality skills, adhering to GDPR and data protection regulations.

Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Hours: This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday between core hours.
