We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Rehabilitation Assistant (Band 3) to join the rehabilitation team at St. Benedicts Hospice and Centre for Specialist Palliative in Sunderland.
You will work closely with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists in the delivery of individual plans of care for patients, working across all departments.
You will be expected to move and handle patients in supporting their rehabilitation programmes and contribute to the delivery of therapeutic activity groups.

Main duties of the job
You will be/have:
* NVQ 3 in Care or equivalent qualification
* The Care Certificate or willingness to work towards
* Good standard of general education
* Experience of working in NHS or healthcare environment in a rehabilitation role
* Experience of palliative care is desirable
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential
* Effective organisational skills
* Ability to maintain confidentiality
* Able to move and handle patients and loads
* Car driver, valid license and business class insurance are essential.

Job responsibilities
To work flexibly within a multidisciplinary team under the direction of qualified therapists (Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy), providing a high standard of therapy/rehabilitation to patients within St. Benedicts Hospice and Centre for Specialist Palliative Care.
To work independently following standard procedures and treatment plans to deliver therapy on an individual basis or group setting.
To have access to a qualified therapist to evaluate the outcomes of intervention and progress treatments as appropriate.
To coordinate and implement rehabilitation interventions (individual or group) as directed by a qualified therapist, on the inpatient unit, day service and in patients' homes.
To undertake visits to patients' homes, following standard work procedures, to complete simple non-complex assessment and intervention, as directed by a qualified therapist.
To be responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of stock control/materials/equipment within the rehabilitation service.
To deliver and install low risk equipment to patients' homes, following installation training, as directed by a qualified therapist, e.g. mobility aides, toileting equipment.
To be competent in the ordering, fitting, maintenance and review of equipment for patient use.
