Job overview
Bedford Community Mental Health teams (part of East London Foundation Trust) are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Mental Health Nurse to join our forward-thinking and dynamic team. You will be working collaboratively with all secondary mental health services, including Primary Care Mental Health Link Practitioners and the Voluntary and Private Sector to contribute to a Recovery focused model of care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will hold a caseload and work within the principles of the agreed model of care for the service as laid down in the operational policy. The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner within an integrated Multi-disciplinary team, which will involve the assessment planning, implementation and evaluation of the care provided and liaising with all agencies involved with the client. The post holder will be confident and competent in administering IM injections and fully aware of the Medicines Management Guidance & Associated policies.

Educational/ Qualification
* Qualified Mental Health Nurse registered with NMC
* Evidence of Continuous professional development
* Educated to Degree Level
Experience
* Post-qualification experience within mental health services
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary environment/community experience.
* Experience of working within an NHS/Local Authority environment.
Knowledge/Skills
* Thorough understanding of mental disorders and treatment options.
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and subsequent amendments
* Working knowledge of NHS & Community Care Act, The Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation.
* Ability to assess and manage complex and high-risk situations effectively.
* Good report writing skills and ability to compile complex case recordings and reports.
* Ability to manage and coordinate professionals, teams and services.
* Assessment skills and ability to compile care plans in partnership with service users.
* Assertiveness and engagement with other professionals.
* Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
* Highly developed organisational skills.
* Well-developed communication skills.
* Mental Health Practice Skills and understanding of CPA and NSF standards.
* IT skills, experience of working with service user data systems.
