The Company\n\nA market-leading Principal Contractor, known for completing projects for major blue-chip retail clients, is looking to expand its commercial team. With a full order book of asset, fit-out, and refurbishment projects across the food retail sector, the company is now seeking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to deliver these projects nationwide. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, our client specialises in delivering high-quality fittings and bespoke projects.
The business prides itself on being forward-thinking and offers working-from-home opportunities and flexibility to accommodate modern life.\n\nThe Role\n\nAssistant Quantity Surveyor supporting the commercial team in delivering M&E maintenance and small works projects nationwide ranging in value (£10k - £250k). \n\nExperience, Knowledge & Qualifications \n\nAs the Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you must possess the following; \n\n2+ years' experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor, M&E Contractor or a Fit-Out Contractor\nStrong knowledge of commercial and construction contracts such as JCT\nPreferred background in M&E, fit out or commercial construction\nKnowledge of maintenance and small works projects with values ranging between £10k - £250k\nGood communicator, able to deal with a range of people, tasks and obligations\nWell organised, self-starter, able to implement procedures and effectively manage all aspects of the works\nCommercial knowledge and ability to negotiate terms with a range of partiesDuties \n\nReporting to the Head of Commercial\nSubmission of interim payment applications\nPreparation of monthly cost and value reconciliation reports / Project cost control\nAssisting with all commercial aspects of allocated projects\nPreparation and submission of interim valuations\nManage and value variations\nAttend meetings for the agreement of final accounts\nPost contract liaison with clients\nSub-contract negotiation and letting\nJoint responsibility of managing contract costs including payments to sub-contractors\nAssist with the management of contractual documentation and letters / Understanding of sub-contracts\nPlacing sub-contract ordersThis is a Permanent position with a competitive salary (£30,000 - £35,000 + Package) on offer for the successful candidate.
