Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust
Due to additional funding, a new post has been opened providing an exciting dietetic opportunity for anyone passionate about developing an inpatient mental health service. You will work as part of a specialist Mental Health Multi-Disciplinary team within a specialist Mental Health Hospital.
This challenging yet rewarding role involves working closely with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals to develop personalised nutrition plans for individuals admitted to Mental Health Inpatient units, making a difference to people's lives in terms of nutrition support, weight management, and gastroenterology.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, and confident Dietitian to join the Mental Health Multi-Disciplinary Team delivering specialist healthcare around the Pennine region for patients admitted to mental health inpatient units. The permanent post will be based at Royal Blackburn Hospital inpatient unit, but flexibility to work and travel around the area is required.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will gain invaluable experience working with complex mental health conditions within a specialist MH inpatient unit, focusing on nutrition support, weight management, and gastroenterology. You will be expected to have a strong commitment to ongoing professional and personal development.
Your role will involve helping to develop a robust dietetic service for the East Lancashire region, assessment, and implementation of care plans for patients who are inpatients, which may include covering for MH inpatient units and hospitals where required.
You will work as an autonomous advanced practitioner, providing a high standard of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and highly specialist expert advice to patients and carers. You will develop and promote a holistic, supportive, and patient-centred service, with easy access to an allied health professional associate director and consultant dietitian for support and clinical supervision.
You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, efficient, and effective clinical service, ensuring this is delivered to local and national targets/standards. You will act as a positive role model, leading by example, mentoring and supervising staff, and providing opportunities for continuing professional development for all grades of staff.
