Our client is a high-profile engineering firm in the North East of Scotland with international reach. The Engineering Manager is based in Aberdeenshire and the organisation is looking to diversify into new global markets. Full rights to work in the UK required.
The Engineering Manager will hold overall responsibility across all engineering tasks to ensure action, completion and closure.
Experience in maintenance, manufacturing and / or production.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures, standards and work instructions.
Manage the Engineering team to support the technical requirements of the business, covering all aspects of department management from personnel developments, discipline and guidance.
Overseeing and co-ordinating all Engineering related work within the department.
Overall responsibility for the allocation and co-ordination of all work handled by the Engineering department.
Participate in project and technical meetings as required either through own initiation in support of assigned projects or at request of other areas.
Liaise with others within the business in support of technical queries and investigations, including providing leadership to technical investigations and developments
Ensure creation and provision of advice / approval of Technical Bulletins and other technical instructions and reports.
Ensuring the satisfactory completion of engineering calculations, their review and approval.
Ensuring Technical report creation and top level approval as required.
Ensuring Technical drawing top level approval by self or through appropriate delegation.
Lead and manage, or ensure appropriate delegated lead, on internal Engineering Projects
Assist the Head of Special Projects and Engineering with providing technical support and guidance across the business
Provide Technical support on customer related issues as required.
Work closely with the Head of Special Projects and Engineering for specific projects and business and product development.
Promote open communication, support change and support team leaders, managers and directors
Participate in training courses and instructions driving own competency level to fulfil and develop role and technical competency; ensuring competency framework is kept up to date accordingly. This may include CPD in furthering new technologies knowledge acquisition.
Provide support and / or lead technical training initiatives where required / competent to do so.
Support and participate in continual improvement initiatives requiring technical input.
Carry out tool box talks on Technically directed activities.
Experience in valve manufacture / maintenance considered.
Mentoring and coaching staff, carrying out appraisals etc
Engineering Degree with relevant experience in engineering practices.
Holding or in the process of obtaining Chartered Engineer Status (preferable).

The individual shall have agood understanding and competency in Engineering Theory and Practices and in particular the management of Engineering Resources and employees.
The individual should have a suitable level of Engineering management that includes a detailed understanding of standard engineering processes such as stress analysis, fluid dynamics, and the use of process tools such as Solid Works, 3D modelling, and Finite Element Analysis. Suitable experience in defect analysis and investigations is required.
The individual will preferably have a working appreciation of gas turbine engines, their technology and constituent parts, including repair procedures and new manufacture of components.
The individual will preferably hold Chartered Engineer level or will be at a level such that application would not unreasonably be expected to be attained.
