About the Role As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for creating and delivering personalised learning programmes that cater to the specific educational, emotional and social needs of pupils with SEND. Your role will involve engaging students through creative, adaptive teaching techniques while fostering a supportive and structured classroom environment. Responsibilities of the SEN Teacher: Develop and implement differentiated lesson plans tailored to individual learning needs, ensuring an inclusive classroom experience. Use engaging and adaptive teaching methods to support children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs. Create a safe, structured and positive learning environment that promotes confidence, independence and academic progress. Work closely with support staff, therapists and SENCOs to devise and implement personalised education and behavioural support plans. Monitor and assess student progress, making necessary adjustments to teaching strategies to facilitate growth and development. Employ effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a nurturing yet structured classroom atmosphere. Communicate regularly with parents and carers, ensuring a collaborative approach to each child’s educational journey. Promote the emotional and social well-being of students by encouraging positive interactions and resilience-building activities. Requirements of the SEN Teacher: Must have a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification. Demonstrable experience working within an SEN educational setting, supporting children with complex learning needs. A deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and effective teaching methodologies for diverse learning requirements. The ability to create engaging, personalised lessons that cater to various learning styles and abilities. Exceptional teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams. A patient, compassionate and resilient approach, with a commitment to the holistic development of each student. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
