Job summary An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in the busy Pathology department at Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield. Applicants for this position will be reliable, trustworthy and be able to work to tight deadlines under pressure. You will be able to work on your own as well as part of a team. A good, basic level of education is required that demonstrates a good understanding of the English language and a good level of numeracy. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential along with fast, accurate keyboard skills. An ability to follow instructions, work under pressure and demonstrate good manual dexterity will be an advantage. You will be required to use a variety of IT systems including Microsoft Office, Excel and the hospital ICE system to identify requests for consumables, so an understanding of English and keyboard skills are required. Main duties of the job The main duties of this role include: Responsible for receiving deliveries, unpacking & storage, ensuring correct stock rotation Coordinate stock control of a myriad of products including analyser reagents, sample collection bottles, pathology request forms & transport bags. Amend standing orders to maintain stock levels Coordinate deliveries from suppliers Package and supply consumables to Phlebotomy across the trust. Assist in providing supplies to GP Practices, hospital wards and departments who are users of the Pathology service at MYTT. Assist lab staff in emptying hazardous waste bins & arranging collection.
