This is a new post to increase the level of medicalsupport in the Learning Disability Service.
The Trusts Durham and Tees Valley Learning DisabilityService provides specialised community and inpatient services to adults with alearning disability alongside a range of health and social care partners.
The post also containsprotected time for a special interest, such as medical education.
In the event that the appointed person has analternative special interest, then the use of this time will be negotiated atthe time of appointment and in job planning.
It is anticipated that the majority of your clinicalresponsibilities will be within the North Tees Community Learning DisabilityTeam.
The North Tees Community Team provides a specialistservice to adults with a learning disability who live in the Stockton andHartlepool locality. The team has an active caseload of around 400, withbetween 20 and 50 allocations per month. Dr Amarasuriya is an established andhighly experienced consultant who will supervise your clinical work.
Any additional responsibilities or changes to thisarrangement would be appropriately Job Planned.
Main duties of the job
You will provide a timelyand high-quality psychiatric service as part of the community learningdisability team. You will provide initial assessment and ongoing reviews foradults with a learning disability who are open to the clinical team. You willprovide such assessments in team bases and community settings as appropriate.You will attend formulation meetings, team meetings and leadership meetings asagreed in your job plan. You will work under an appropriate level of clinicalsupervision for your level of experience.
