I am recruiting a Head of Operations and Logistics for my client based in Norwich. This is a full-time, permanent role and working on site full time. Car parking is provided.
The Head of Operations and Logistics is responsible for driving the efficiency, effectiveness, and strategic development of the warehouse operations and logistics functions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide inspirational leadership to the function, taking responsibility for all Operational management.
2. Accountable for the daily operations of the transport, warehouse and logistics team, including planning, scheduling and coordinating shipments.
3. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to keep us ahead of the curve by optimising workflows to reduce waste and improve productivity - ensuring you deliver safety, quality or efficiency advances within your operational scope.
4. Create a culture of accountability, innovation, and teamwork.
5. Monitor performance and KPIs closely, resolving any issues as they arise.
6. Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, creating data-driven solutions.
7. Develop and implement transportation and logistics strategies to optimise cost efficiency and service levels.
8. Lead the resolution of unexpected issues by ensuring appropriate solutions are implemented. Leverage the experience to improve future planning.
9. Ensure the workforce is skilled, effective, and labour control is measured and managed to achieve and exceed monthly targets; taking full responsibility for talent management and succession planning within your department.
10. Use data-based evidence to enhance productivity e.g. goods in/out and returns, cost-savings and quality standards; presenting operational performance against KPIs, with detailed and informed commentary where required.
11. Implement and maintain a stock management strategy that reduces liability, controls cost, improves order accuracy and achieves KPIs.
12. Take responsibility for Health & Safety, ensuring full compliance and proactive risk management.
13. Maintain flawless communications with the customer service team, highlighting any operational risks in a timely manner and provide detailed solutions to operational challenges.
14. Assess and present business cases (e.g. resource planning, equipment purchasing) to the Leadership Team, making informed and rounded cost-based decisions based on budget.
15. Provide valued input for the change in Warehouse Management System platform and other I.T Projects.
16. Ensure all agreements in relation to business purchases are properly and legally conducted.
17. Any other duties required by management.
Is this for you? Requirements for the role:
1. Strong track record of warehouse management, preferably in a retail logistics environment.
2. Excellent knowledge of warehouse operations.
3. Proven ability to successfully operate at Senior Management level.
4. Demonstrable experience of leading a department to successfully meet organisational goals.
5. Sound financial acumen, particularly regarding cost management/labour control.
6. Strong communication and presentations skills.
7. A track record of making tangible improvements against SLAs.
8. Comfortable making decisions.
9. Proficient working knowledge of MS Office packages.
10. Has worked closely with both internal and external stakeholders.
