PitPat Cambridge, England, United Kingdom
Senior Graphic Designer
Role Context: We are on a mission to get a PitPat on every pet, to ensure pets are healthier and safer. Backed by an array of impressive investors we have ambitious growth plans, which will see us grow our business internationally and through continued product innovation and development.
Role Purpose: As a consumer products company, how we look really matters! It matters across all customer touch points, on our website, in our emails, in our printed materials and packaging, in our app, in our business-to-business communications. It matters everywhere!
This role is about championing and delivering visual design excellence in all our visual representations. What works for our consumer emails won't necessarily work for an investment prospectus. What works for a digital advert will be different to an in-app interaction. Flexibility is key to success.
PitPat is already loved by our customers, this role will help ensure customers recognise us, trust us, and want to own our products. The Graphic Designer owns the end-to-end design process and will have a tangible impact on our ambitious growth plans.
Salary: Up to £50,000. Working Hours: 40/week. Location: Hybrid/Remote, occasional travel to our central Cambridge office.
Responsibilities:
1. Set up, operate and deliver an "in-house design service". Provide visual design everywhere and anywhere someone within the company asks for it. This will include marketing (website, emails, advertising, shopfront and e-commerce transactions), product (packaging design, leaflets & instructions, in-app interactions), business (reports, presentations, etc), office (signs and notices). Sometimes this will be an end-to-end service, where someone asks for the complete job, other times it might be providing specific support to someone else working on visual design.
2. Create and implement a design system for www.pitpat.com. The majority of customers learn about our products and first experience the PitPat brand on our website so it is essential you create a toolkit that ensures we give customers the best user experience.
3. Be responsible for elevating and maintaining visual design quality across the company. This includes the company's visual appearance (our "trade dress") where appropriate, as well as other styles and approaches where they are appropriate. Bring excellence to all our graphic design, illustration and typography.
4. Manage and maintain a comprehensive library of our visual assets. This includes brand materials, photographic assets, templates, grids and layouts, so the Graphic Designer and others within the company can complete projects quickly and efficiently. This includes coordinating photoshoots to continually refresh and expand our collection, ensuring it meets the needs of digital, print, and social media projects.
Requirements:
1. Deep practical understanding of visual design principles. You will have at least five years design experience with consumer brands.
2. You will have at least three years experience of website user experience - you will be passionate about helping us create an intuitive, visually appealing, best in class consumer experience.
3. You will have worked with, updated and enhanced a visual design system (visual components, layouts, typography, colours).
4. Familiarity with industry tools (the choice of which tools will be yours to make) and work flows.
5. Collaborating with colleagues.
Highly Desirable:
1. Pet lover, you are probably a dog and/or cat owner, who has a real affinity with our customers.
2. Proficiency in leveraging AI tools for design workflows, such as generating concepts, enhancing visuals, and expediting repetitive tasks.
3. Typography - your portfolio will showcase impactful typographic work.
4. Illustration - you will be proficient at creating high-quality, on-brand illustrations.
5. Animation - experience creating motion graphics or interactive animations using tools such as After Effects or Lottie.
