Sheffield City Council are looking for a senior electrical officer to join their team on a permanent basis. You will be working in an 'off the tools' capacity with a hybrid role between working from home, in the office and out on site when completing inspections.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced tradesperson looking to take a step away from the tools and into an office-based role or for someone with experience in electrical inspections and compliance checking. Additional bonus for anyone with experience in contractor liaison/supervision.
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
This client will offer a mileage allowance of 45p per mile but you must have your own vehicle.
Salary starting at £37,035 and rising in increments to £40,476.
Your new role
Main duties include:
1. On-site quality assurance, defect inspection, and handover procedures (smoke alarms, remedials, electrical testing, electrical upgrades etc.).
2. Deliver a contract administration service for the operational delivery of electrical servicing work (communal areas such as emergency lighting, CCTV, electric doors etc.).
3. Issue Site Instructions, variations and offer competent, sound technical advice.
4. Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for delivering (but not limited to) contract administration service, operational delivery of onsite heating improvement works and an area-based tenant and contractor liaison function.
5. Rewiring in properties and electrical repair work.
6. Check the work while it is in process and also after it is done to ensure it is completed correctly and the customer is satisfied.
7. Leasing with Contractors and customers to ensure they are informed and satisfied.
8. The role is 80% out on site at different properties around Sheffield, with the remaining time working from home or in the office for meetings.
9. Flexible hours allowing you to work any time between 7am - 7pm as long as you complete your 37 hours a week.
10. Expected to know how to use a tablet for bookings and task management.
What you'll need to succeed
* Relevant electrical qualifications (18th edition essential; other supporting qualifications are a bonus).
* Social housing experience preferred but not essential.
* Experience in a senior-level role (team leader, advisory etc.) preferred but not essential.
* Experience in contract/contractor supervision preferred.
* Own vehicle and insurance for business use essential.
* Knowledge about legionella (not essential).
