Job Title: Assessor – Children and Young People
Location: South Wales / Hybrid (with travel as required)
Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Role Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Children and Young People Assessor to join our clients dynamic team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality training and assessment to learners within the Children and Young People sector across South Wales, ensuring their success and professional development.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering tailored learning routes, providing exceptional support to learners, and ensuring compliance with awarding body standards. This is a field-based role requiring travel to learners’ workplaces to assess and guide their progress.
Key Responsibilities:
Training and Assessment
* Deliver training and assessments for Children and Young People learners, ensuring high-quality standards.
* Travel regionally to visit learners in the workplace to conduct assessments and provide support.
* Create Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and map out learning routes for learners to achieve their goals.
* Assess and mark workplace evidence for Essential Skills Wales (ESW) and Key Skills requirements.
* Facilitate and invigilate tests as per awarding body requirements.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation to evidence learner progress and achievements.
* Provide additional support to learners when required, ensuring a positive learning experience.
* Develop engaging course materials and resources to support learner needs.
Quality Assurance
* Ensure all documentation and records meet audit and awarding body compliance requirements.
* Maintain Award Body records and ensure adherence to all standards and policies.
* Monitor learner progression and ensure timely completion of their qualifications.
* Use sampling and data analysis to ensure assessment consistency and quality.
Collaboration and Development
* Maintain excellent working relationships with employers, identifying potential business opportunities.
* Support unqualified learners and those requiring additional development to achieve their qualifications.
* Liaise with team members to ensure effective course delivery and promote best practices.
* Stay updated on sector developments and maintain CPD records to reflect ongoing professional development.
General Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with company policies, including safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
* Promote the company’s core values and quality policies in all aspects of work.
* Support continuous improvement by developing new qualifications and improving delivery models.
* Undertake any additional duties required to support the organisation’s goals.
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential
* Assessor qualification (CAVA, A1, or equivalent).
* Occupational competence in the Children and Young People sector.
* ESW Communication and Application of Number qualifications at Level 2.
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
* TAQA qualification or equivalent.
* Experience delivering apprenticeships in the Children and Young People sector.
* Familiarity with awarding body practices and public-funded training schemes.
* City & Guilds 9300 Level 2 in Supporting Adults and Young People in Essential Skills (or willingness to work towards)
