Architectural Engineering Draftsman
We are a family owned and operated business based in North Canterbury. We are looking for a skilled architectural engineering draftsman to join our team.
Working alongside our senior detailer, you will be responsible for creating accurate 3D models specializing in architectural metalwork items using our software to generate production drawings.
Key Responsibilities
* Create 3D models – content varies from staircases and doors to steel beams and balustrades
* Generate and edit detailed drawings in a timely manner in line with current workloads
* Prepare drawings to include plans, elevations, sections, and details
* Review documents to identify any conflicts or missing details
* Attend site and complete initial measures with contracts manager on specialist projects to then input and model upon return
* Communicate with the team regarding timelines and ensure accurate information is relayed to the relevant personnel
* Assist on specialist projects as workload dictates
Skills and Qualifications
* Proficient with 3D BIM software preferably advanced Steel or Tekla
* Experience in generating and editing detailed drawings of architectural metalwork items such as staircases and specialist projects
* Strong understanding of structural drawings, plans, elevations, sections, and details along with building code requirements for New Zealand
* Knowledge of steel hardware, fixings, members, and products in the steel industry
* Strong attention to detail
* Understands project budgets and timeframes – ability to organize own workload to meet deadlines
* Excellent communication and coordination skills
* Proactive problem-solving approach and a commitment to meeting customer needs
