The Role
The company has seen huge success and growth in recent years and is looking for a specialist Class 2 Registered Building Inspector. The Registered Building Inspector will join the company during an exciting time of development and growth, contributing significantly to the profitable long-term growth of the business and advocating the values and culture of the organization.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Responsible for upholding the group's quality (ISO9001) risk management and ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements.
2. Ensure awareness and uphold best practices regarding all risk management initiatives and adherence to policies and procedures.
3. Undertaking restricted activities in accordance with the RBI Code of Conduct for assigned projects.
4. Supporting and mentoring less experienced technical staff.
5. Support the introduction/delivery of new products and services as required.
6. Assessing applications.
7. Attending meetings, training sessions, and seminars as required by the business.
8. Representing the business in a professional manner.
9. Taking responsibility for a portfolio of projects within a geographical area.
10. Providing technical support and guidance to clients and less experienced team members.
11. Effective time management to optimize inspection visits and plan checking requirements.
12. Managing relationships with customers to promote business development.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
1. Keen eye for detail and process-oriented.
2. Ability to make pragmatic decisions to achieve safe and compliant buildings.
3. Ability to work with minimum supervision/remotely in line with established policies and procedures.
4. Commercial awareness.
5. Chartered or working towards full corporate membership of Chartered Institute of Building Engineers or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
6. Hold and maintain appropriate Technical Class 2 Registered Building Inspector (RBI) status.
7. Conversant with relevant legislation and technical guidance.
8. Knowledge of the impact of The Building Safety Act (2022).
9. Fire safety and Health and Safety knowledge.
10. Understanding of the construction design process and RIBA Stages of work.
11. Knowledge of customer care and equal opportunities principles.
12. Track record in ensuring compliance with Building Regulations.
13. Experience in different types of buildings and projects.
14. Effective self-management of site inspections and reporting.
15. Working experience in a building control environment.
16. Strong internal working relationships across all areas of the business.
17. Relationship management across all teams and stakeholders.
18. Build and maintain client relationships across design and construction teams.
19. Assessing compliance against regulation and legislation.
20. Plan checking across a wide range of project types.
