Our Hull branch is looking for an energetic, innovative, and dynamic Transport Manager. The individual should have a proven track record in managing a fleet in a fast-paced environment and experience of effectively running a successful function. The individual will be responsible for the transport and distribution operations and for providing excellent standards of service, efficiency, and performance.
Duties will include:
1. Responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the transport department – with previous experience in HGV’s is essential.
2. Efficiently managing a team of drivers and vehicles to effectively deliver our building supplies/plumbing and heating products.
3. Responsibility for all the dispatching, routing, and tracking of delivery vehicles.
4. Ensuring company compliance of all transport policies, legislations, and procedures to do with tachographs.
5. Managing, monitoring, and developing a team of drivers
6. Involvement in strategic development and improvements
7. Ensuring that all vehicles are properly maintained and serviced.
8. Maintain accurate administrative records.
9. Appraising staff performance and all disciplinary issues that may arise.
10. Responsibility for all health and safety issues of fleet
11. Liaising with yard operatives to ensure correct products, quantities, locations, and timings.
12. Liaising with the warehouse manager as well as yard manager.
13. Experience in the merchant industry would be preferable.
14. This role will be working 1 in 3 Saturday mornings.
